"Sheldon," Sturgis said, "I've found something. Or rather, something found me."

Medford, Texas. Late spring, 1992.

It was Sheldon's own voice. But younger. Much younger. Four, maybe five years old.

"The owner said when he cranked it at exactly 10:17 PM during a geomagnetic storm, he could hear radio frequencies from the past."

Sheldon felt something strange. His chest tightened. He looked at Sturgis.

The doorbell rang. Sheldon ignored it until Missy barged in without knocking.

"Emotional response," he said quietly. "Unexpected."

Sheldon agreed without hesitation. Mary sighed the sigh of a woman who had long ago accepted her fate.
