This code does not indicate an electrical open or short circuit. Instead, it signals a within the braking control system. The Engine Control Module (ECM) or Body Control Module (BCM) has detected that the signal from the brake pedal position sensor does not match the expected state based on other vehicle inputs (e.g., stop lamp circuit current monitoring, cruise control status, or transmission shift interlock).

Replaced pedal pivot bushings (part 13233840) and recalibrated a new switch. Code cleared permanently. opel b2585-00

Live data showed Sensor 1 transitioning at 8mm pedal travel, Sensor 2 at 12mm travel. Physical inspection revealed a worn brake pedal bushing (plastic grommet at the pivot pin). The pedal had 3mm of lateral play, causing the switch plunger to contact the pedal arm at an angle. This uneven force triggered the two internal reed switches at different times.
